The body is made from a silverleaf maple center with poplar wings and decorated with a figured maple veneer on top or the highly figured KOA wood top on the Natural KOA model. The ebony fingerboard is shaped with Godin’s ergocut technique and equipped with medium jumbo frets. As with all of Godin synth-ready instruments, a built-in 13-pin connector provides direct access to all Roland GR-Series synths as well as most other 13-pin devices.Īll of this sound power would be a lot less interesting if the guitar didn’t feel great and great is exactly how the xtSA feels thanks to the same 25½” scale, mahogany neck used on the Godin flagship LGX-SA guitar. The icing on the xtSA cake comes in the form of its synth tracking, which simply put, is the best in the business. The two outputs are set up so that the electric and acoustic voices can be blended in the guitar using a single patch cord or at the amp/mixer using both outputs. The acoustic voice of the xtSA is enhanced by an onboard preamp with a three-way graphic EQ. Turn down the electric output and raise the volume on the RMC transducer saddles and the xtSA becomes an incredibly authentic-sounding ‘acoustic’ guitar. The xtSA delivers big time electric sounds via the Godin humbucker-single-humbucker pickup configuration and thanks to a special 5-way switch setup extra meaty humbucker tones co-exist with glassy split-coil sounds in the second and forth position. The Radium also comes equipped with an H-S-H pickup configuration for a multitude of tonal possibilities, and a re-invented vintage-style control plate, which has a Volume, Push-Pull tone, and an angled 5-way switch that follows the natural sweep of your right hand for easy pickup selection. However, I know lots off players love these muted tones, so I can see them being popular with some guitarists.Presenting a new breed of single-cut guitars, which combines all the best elements of the Radiator and the Stadium into one: The Radium! It offers some unique features compared to the more traditional single cutaway solid-bodies, such as a short-scale (24 ¾”) set-neck and a 3&3 headstock design for comfortable playing and bending. I’m not a huge fan of the two finishes, as they remind me of those earlier Japanese import guitars from my youth, which I always found a bit dull and lacklustre. Certainly an interesting take on the shorter-scale H-S-H layout guitar. New Designīoth guitars look like a cross between some of the late ’70s and early ’80s designs coming out of Japan and some of the Fender models from their Parallel Universe/Alternate Reality runs from the last few years. The 24.75” set-neck is also mahogany. The HSH pickup layout consists of a custom pair of Godin nickel-covered humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions, plus a Godin custom Cajun nickel single-coil in the middle position.
